Why does She Roams Safe exist?
A theme that I kept seeiing in places like r/solotravel was women warning other women about safety concerns ; often overlooked by the original post owner.
It wasn’t a one off topic either. It kept showing up month after month and year after year.
A few years later when I began my entrepreneurship journey this memory came back as a problem that could be solves
After speaking with female friends and family they confirmed they faced the same issue of constantly spending ages researching, cross reference, and 2nd guessing safety. I realized there was still no dedicated solution for it.
That’s when I decided to build She Roams Safe.
What is She Roams Safe?
She Roams Safe is a women only travel platform and community. It combines elements of Nomadlist Reddit and Tripadvisor and Nomadtable (in the future) into one trustworthy space built for women travelers.
It’s not just a review site. It’s a verified community of solo women travelers sharing safety insights local experiences and travel reviews backed by real data and real women.
What are the main features of She Roams Safe?
We currently cover over 1,300 cities filterable by safety score location and budget.
Each city page includes:
- Safety and Tourism scores across multiple categories
- Detailed budgets and cost estimates
- A country wide live chat for women travelers
- Written reviews that can be liked sorted and filtered for relevance
The future road map is:
- Mobile app to meetup with female travellers near you
- Interactive city maps for each city that you can label
How do I know all users are actual women?
Every user must complete a verification process before joining.
Verification is done through either:
- Submitting a selfie and ID photo that is reviewed by a human
- You can use a code if you were given one
This ensures every member is a verified woman not a bot troll or anonymous account.
How are scores calculated?
All safety and experience scores are based only on submissions from our verified women only users.
Scores are refreshed daily using a weighted average of the last three years of reviews. Giving the highest weight to the most recent year.
This keeps our information current and trustworthy reflecting today’s travel realities rather than outdated experiences.
