Why does She Roams Safe exist?
I’ve been browsing r/solotravel and other travel communities for years. One theme kept repeating itself: women warning other women about safety concerns that were often overlooked by the original post owner.
It wasn’t a one off topic either. It kept showing up month after month and year after year.
Later, when I started getting into entrepreneurship and began thinking seriously about real world problems worth solving, that pattern came back to me.
After speaking with female friends and family who confirmed they faced the same issue, constantly having to research, cross-reference, and second-guess safety, I realized there was still no dedicated solution for it.
That’s when I decided to build She Roams Safe.
What is She Roams Safe?
She Roams Safe is a women only travel platform that combines the best elements of Nomadlist Reddit and Tripadvisor into one trustworthy space built for women travelers.
It’s not just a review site. It’s a verified community of solo women travelers sharing safety insights local experiences and travel reviews backed by real data and real women.
What are the main features of She Roams Safe?
We currently cover over 1,300 cities filterable by safety score location and budget.
Each city page includes:
- Safety and comfort scores across multiple categories
- Weekly budget and cost of living estimates
- A country wide live chat for women travelers
- Written reviews that can be liked sorted and filtered for relevance
How do I know all users are actual women?
Every user must complete a verification process before joining.
Verification is done through either:
- A short non recorded call with our team
- Kairos AI verification which uses a secure selfie and one form of ID upload
This ensures every member is a verified woman not a bot troll or anonymous account.
How are scores calculated?
All safety and experience scores are based entirely on submissions from our verified women only users.
A background job script recalculates the scores daily using a weighted average of the past three years of reviews giving the highest weight to the most recent year.
This keeps our information current and trustworthy reflecting today’s travel realities rather than outdated experiences.
Is She Roams Safe free
Every new user gets a minimum 3 month free trial that only starts counting after you get verified.
However She Roams Safe cannot remain free forever. The cost of servers databases and identity verification technology grows with every new traveler who joins.
Paid membership also acts as a natural filter deterring bots, trolls and AI agents ensuring our space remains 100 percent authentic and women only.
What is the future of She Roams Safe
There are many ideas for expansion but the main focus is on user growth and feature depth.
I will always do founder calls and collect feedback from verified members to understand their experiences and challenges as women travelers.
Once we reach 1000 verified users we’ll begin building major features. My biggest ideas is interactive city map labelling by neighbourhood etc that layer community sourced safety data and local tips directly onto real time maps.
She Roams Safe launched in October 2025 so is still a baby. Early members can have a direct impact on shaping how the platform evolves and grows for women everywhere to truly make it a platform for you.
